Lynne Cohen has been a journalist since 1979, beginning her career on a manual typewriter in the Northwest Territories writing bi-weekly for the Inuvik Drum. She has a B.A. (Honours) in Political Science and a Bachelor of Journalism, One Year Program, from Carleton University (1983). Her father being a physician, her main interest became medical reporting, and for the next 20 years she freelanced for the Canadian Medical Association Journal and other medical and human-interest publications.

In 1990 Lynne entered law school at the University of Ottawa and was called to the Ontario bar in 1995. She was a principle writer for Canadian Lawyer for six years, and also wrote columns for the Ottawa Citizen, focusing on humorous pieces about life and family. She is the author of 4 published books.

A lifelong athlete, Lynne completed the Hawaii Ironman Triathlon in 1985. She remained a competitive Masters’ swimmer until 2020, winning an Ontario provincial gold medal for her age-group. She continues to enjoy writing, strumming her guitar and spending time with her husband, three married children and seven grandchildren.
